About Women Doing Science
We tell the stories of diverse scientists from around the world
Women Doing Science is a social media movement founded by Alexandra Phillips in 2018. Our team of international volunteers has since featured over 800 diverse women in STEM to an audience of over 100,000 people. The hashtag #womendoingscience has been used over 25,000 times.
This project allows us to revisit our collective idea of what a scientist looks like - moving beyond singluar, stereotyped depictions that saturate traditional media. We hope to showcase as many individual experiences in STEM as possible and to build an increasingly broad portfolio of potential role models for aspiring or current scientists.
